On Thursday, Aug. 22, we drove to Florence, the antique store capital of Colorado.  Almost every store along a 2 block section was an antique store; selling everything from junk to elegant junk.  We felt like we had celebrity status as the town welcomed us with reserved parking along the main street under the trees.

You can see how patient Phil is as I did some looking in all the shops.  Actually, he was the one who found the bargain, an old horn perfect for a 1920's car.
We were back to Canon City for a tour of the old territorial prison museum where we got to see what prison life was like through the late 1800's to early 1900's.
Elmer & Phil found the outside cells not too accommodating.
We parked our cars in the old exercise yard.  Notice the guard tower overlooking the grounds.
Aug. 23, Friday, our last tour day, found us at the Royal Gorge Bridge.  The visitors center & surrounding buildings were burnt by a fire on June 11, 2013, so we were not able to cross the bridge but did get to hike where we could see it.

That's Elmer in the yellow shirt and you can see the train tracks that we were on earlier when we rode the train through the Gorge.
We also went on the Skyline Drive on our way back to town.

More fun shopping!  "Stinky", "Foxy Lady", and "Bucky".
Tonight was our final banquet and farewell after a terrific week of touring in our Chevys.  This is our Utah group with our national club president, Dave Miner from Ohio.  We were honored to have Dave ride with us in the rumble seat of the Cabriolet for our first tour day.
Headed back home bright & early in the morning.  :(

We crossed the Continental Divide at Independence Pass, Colorado at 12,095 feet on Monday, Aug. 19.

We wound our way to Canon City, Colorado for a week-long fun-filled adventure with our friends in the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America.  There are about 18 Chevys here ranging in age from 1926 to 1954 exploring the area & enjoying the sites.  Tuesday, August 20, we drove about 60 some odd miles to Cripple Creek where we enjoyed riding a train seeing the many remnants of mining digs from years gone by where the early miners searched for gold.  We later went to Victor where we got on a bus to ride down 1,000 feet into a modern open pit mine and see the huge trucks hauling out ore that they processed for gold.

We got to wear these cute protective helmets & safety glasses for the mine tour.

That's us on the top of the curved steps.  We had a great day of exploring .
Wednesday was our day to ride the Royal Gorge Train where we enjoyed a most scrumptious dinner and saw the deep canyon along side the Arkansas River.

Phil asked the conductor what he was going to spell on our tickets, (like in the Polar Express) and he punched out a frowny face because he said we were too old to get 'believe'.  We all got a chuckle when he did that.

We lined up all the cars by the train for a group picture after our ride.  This shows the train we rode on.

Later we took a drive through the neighborhood and saw this buck right on somebody's lawn.
So we're having a great time here in Canon City.

We had a great Baker Reunion the first week of August up Beaver Mountain where we camped at 10,000 ft at Big John Flat.  Lots of family members came, road 4-wheelers, played, and enjoyed the cool beauty of the mountains.  We loved having all our family there to enjoy this time together. We only had 3 family members that didn't make it this year.

We all had a fun time and look forward to this again another year.
